, Ireland’s leading hospitality and event specialists this week picked up an award for excellence in service from The World – Residences at Sea. The award is in recognition of’s outstanding dedication and commitment to exceptional and personalized service, and for supporting The World’s staff during its 10-day call to Ireland & Northern Ireland in 2013.

The World commended for its professionalism and attention to detail in delivering customized experiences that exceeded the expectations of the residents and guests of The World. The awards ceremony took place in Miami and was attended by Padraic O’Kane – CEO of, and Columba O’Reilly, the company’s Events Specialist.

The trip also coincided with the Cruise Shipping Miami Convention which was also attended by the team, as well as approximately 30 representatives from Ireland including; Dublin Port, Port of Cork, Belfast Port, MJM Shipping and Leo Varadkar – Minister for Transport, Tourism & Sport. At 644 feet, The World is the largest privately owned yacht on the planet, with 165 private onboard Residences, which means that collectively, residents own the ship, ensuring that their experiences – both onboard and off – are far beyond current luxury travel standards. Cruise ship tourism is the fastest growing tourism sector in the world, and Ireland has a huge part to play in attracting it.

The recent announcement of a €200m expansion plan for Dublin Port plus the Dun Laoghaire BID (Business Improvement District) are all positive signs that more cruise ships like ‘The World’ will include Ireland on their stops.
