CORK REBEL WEEK SEEKS REBEL CHARITY

Cork Rebel Week, one of the flagship events of The Gathering, is seeking a regional or national charity to become its official charity partner for the festival.
Plans for  the festival, which takes place from 14th – 20th October, are well underway, with a feast of culture, hospitality, sport, and business networking, tapping into the immense pride that Corkonians from far and wide have in their city and county.
The week-long celebration is being supported by Cork County Council, Cork City Council and Fáilte Ireland, with the international initiative being further supported by key stakeholders including An Garda Siochána, transport authorities, the defence forces, third level institutes, local communities, sporting organisations and the business community.

Today the festival organisers have put a call out to regional and national charities with an invitation to become the official charity partner of the festival.  Festival Organiser, Padraic O’Kane stated, ”One of the main talking points of Cork Rebel Week will be the purchase of a special Cork “visa” in exchange for a charitable donation.  We have the co-operation of An Garda Siochána and the Local Authorities who will be supporting in excess of 50 check points throughout the city and county including the Airport, Bus and Train Stations. Together with the nominated charity partner, we are hoping to raise vital funds for a worthy cause – with all funds raised remaining in the Munster region.”
The charity partner will be chosen on a number of criteria based around the connectivity to the Munster region, how they can best capitalise on the opportunity to fundraise and raise awareness for their Charity, the ability to provide in-excess 300 volunteers on October 16th and indicate the potential use of the funds that will be raised.

Interested charities are invited to register their interest through the Cork Rebel Week website.  Closing date for completed applications is 5pm Wednesday May 8th – charities that meet the criteria set within the application form will then be invited to present to an independent judging panel.
